Stripers from Milford to Greenwich have moved into spring holding grounds. By boat or shore anglers fishing the shallow waters should have good fishing. Baits include: top water lures, soft plastics (ie 6-9" sluggos on offset hooks weedless and weightless). In water between 5-10 feet cast a lure. In deeper water use a plastic bait rigged with a lead jig head. Westport Outfitters as a video demonstrating these techniques on their website.

Stripers can still be caught at the mouth of the Housatonic but most stripers are now spread out along the shoreline from Milford to Norwalk.

Anglers caught stripers around Norwalk Island fishing in 4-8' of water.

"Bunker schools can be found in virtually every harbor right now with some being thick enough to net and snag. This bodes well for the upcoming season to say the least".

Some anglers are reporting catching bluefish.

The DEP stocked the Saugatuck, Norwalk and Mianus Rivers with brook, brown and rainbow trout. These fish are catchable with a Mepps spinngers, Phoebe lures, trout worms & powerbait.

"The Saugatuck Reservoir is producing some big walleye as of late and also some large brown trout, mostly using a slip bobber rig and shiners but also on crocodile lures casting the shorelines".
